Are you willing to Work in the Fields. Help is Wanted

HELP WANTED!!!!  The heralds are giving the cry to everyone….to  the uttermost parts of the Earth.  The Lord of the Harvest has issued the call to bring in workers…the harvest is ready….it is plentiful….but where are the laborers.  Help wanted is being cried for, needed, and prayed for.  The Harvest is there.

Help wanted Now

Matthew 9:36-38 (ESV)

36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Look.  The fields are ready to be gleaned.  They are ripe….and the Lord of the Harvest, Jesus Christ, has compassion on the crowds for they are like sheep without a shepherd.  Help is wanted…the laborers are indeed few while the harvest is great.  We are calling all men, women, and children to put their hand to the plow and join in this glorious work for our Master. 

Look…it is your friends and family, coworkers and bosses, even people in the pews and behind the pulpit.  They need you, God has called you, and He will equip you.  Help wanted…

Some have already planted

1 Corinthians 3:6 (ESV)

6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.

Matthew 13:25 (ESV)

25 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.

The work was begun long ago and we in the church, throughout history, have and will reap what others have sown.  The tares, sown by the enemy, will grow in the field  and are virtually indecipherable from the wheat.  We are told not to remove them….not while they are growing, for at the time of harvest they will be taken and cast away from the good wheat. 

The wheat however, that God’s laborers have planted and watered, is to be feed and cared for that it may grow and produce more fruit.  That God will bring in the increase from this labor is beyond doubt, but He has blessed and privileged us, the body….the Church… with working to bring it in for we are called to be fellow workers.  The Lord of Glory Himself has declared the help  wanted call for the work of the Kingdom: He has provided everything necessary, down to the last detail and He earnestly calls us to willingly work in His fields.

Those working are crying ” Help Wanted “

There are some devout and Godly workers who are giving their life’s blood to further the Kingdom by bringing in the harvest.  Their are some who have given all….according to worldly wisdom…to answer the call of ” help wanted. “  They sweat, cry, pray, study, teach, preach, visit, and disciple……..to bring in the harvest. 

There are those that we will never know their names…the anonymous….the widows….the nondescript Sunday School teacher who faithfully shows up and prepares the next generation of workers to go into the fields.  Their work is God honoring and the Lord will bless them for their efforts. 

The Pastor who pours his life into exegeting the Word, shepherding the flock that Christ has entrusted him with, and showing the Grace of God to those around them….all the while working in obscurity.  They are crying….help wanted.

The Dads and Moms struggling to make ends-meet….faithfully discipling their children in the way they should go…..teaching them the things of the Lord….they need help.  They need workers to come along side them…encouraging them, edifying them, and discipling them in due course. 

Help is wanted.  Workers are needed.  The fields are ready. 

Things to get ready for Work

There are some things that need to made ready before one answers the help wanted call.

1. Make your own calling and election sure.  If you are not His you cannot truly hear His call to help
2. Have a mentor/discipleship partner to hold you accountable
3. Study to show thyself approved.  You must now how to use the tools God has given the workers.
4. Be in good standing in a local body of believers.  Lone ranger workers cannot properly heed the help wanted call.  The local Church should know the field they are working in.
5. Pray that the Lord of the Harvest will send you.  That help is wanted is obvious but we should pray and seek His face for the direction He would lead.
6. Be faithful were you are at.  Do the little things before expecting the big things.  Help grow your little backyard garden before expecting a hundred acre field.
