Word Wednesday: The Sower Sows the Word
14 The sower sows the word.

Working in the Fields
How simply profound those words from our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. The Sower Sows the word…..not real complicated is it? Not delving into the depths of theological discussions, Church History, or personal preference but giving a straight-forward opening statement in regards to explaining the Parable of the Sower.
Sowing the Word in our Walk
It is not in our job description to worry and fret over what type of soil the seed is sowed into….sure there is the warning not to throw your pearls before swine….but that is a different saying for another day. As we go about our daily lives….in school, at work, at home, while shopping, and even during our recreation time the word ought to be in the process of being scattered wherever we are. Share the word, share how He ( Jesus Christ ) changed your life through His word, share the good things God has done for you….the sower sows the word.
God Gives the Increase to the Sown Word
I believe this is what Paul had in mind when addressing the Corinthian Church:
5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
As believers we are to plant…some of the Word will fall along the path, some stony ground, some into the thorns, but some will fall on the good ground…..and there it will grow by the Grace of God. The sower sows the word wherever there is a place to cast the word of God….praying over the ground….caring greatly about the harvest….but fully understanding that God gives the increase.
The sower sows the Word Indiscriminately
I have known this for quite some time….but today it jumped off the page and struck me anew. We are to sow the word everywhere, to everyone, in all situations without thought as to its reception. Is there a time to shake the dust from our feet and move on? Yes there is, but you will not know when that time is except through prayer and by having already cast the seed where you are leaving from. You cannot shake the dust from your feet unless you are there…..in the field doing the Lord’s work and remembering that it is the Holy Spirit’s job to make the ground fertile…not yours.
So pray before you sow, pray while you are sowing, and pray after the seed is sown, and finally pray that the Lord of the Harvest will give an increase.
Remember….the sower sows and gives all the glory to God.
Where are you sowing the Word Today?
God bless and Keep the Faith
